West Nile Virus Found in Redwood City Mosquitoes

Be careful, neighbors! The San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District collected a sample of mosquitoes in Redwood City. The tests returned positive for West Nile virus. The district is taking preventative measures and will conduct truck-mounted adult mosquito treatment in the area where the mosquito sample was collected. The area (which can be viewed here) is a primarily residential area and the treatment will take place Wednesday night at 9:00 PM-5:00 AM. A mosquito sample will be collected post-treatment to test again for West Nile virus to determine whether additional treatments will be needed.
