Some Redwood City locals have been complaining about the loads of construction going on around town being a nuisance. It has been increasingly difficult to find parking in the downtown area, there is more and more traffic congestion, and the noise coming from construction sites are awfully loud and unavoidable. Certain people are concerned about the future influx of people and how the city is going to pay for it. However, if one can look past all the annoying aspects of construction, they would be able to see that this is an extremely good sign for Redwood City. The new buildings and people that will come inhabit them will help accelerate the development of our city. Already, permit fees and property tax revenue has increased over 100 percent since development started just 3 years ago. Furthermore, the large amount of newcomers will help raise public revenue and and pressure Redwood City to grow--more transit, more office space, more housing--much of what we have been needing in the past few years.
