Steve Jobs spent his childhood and built the first Apple computers in this Los Altos Home
On Monday, October 28, 2013 the Los Altos Historical Commission unanimously voted to officially make Steve Jobs' childhood home a historical site. This decision grants protected status to the single-story, ranch style house that was once inhabited by Jobs and his foster parents back in 1968. The protected status of the home prevents it from being demolished. Commission members acknowledged that the home has great historical significance, as the garage was were Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the first 100 Apple 1 computers in 1976. The first partnership for the "Apple Computer Co." was also established at this address before the company relocated to Cupertino. Currently, Jobs' sister and stepmother Patricia Jobs and Marilyn Jobs live in the Crist Drive home and are visited by tourists on a weekly basis to take pictures. The goal of the historical designation is to ensure the preservation of the home as it looked in the 1970s.
